SoMo is a joint venture firm created by Sophia Parker and Morayma McKinney, the owners of two successful 8(a) minority and woman-owned businesses devoted to serving the Federal Government and American people.
Sophia Parker is CEO of DSFederal, Inc. She oversees all operations at DSFederal, bringing close to two decades-worth of experiences as a CPA and over ten years of experience as a consultant overseeing complex Federal IT and financial projects. A former State Department employee with international experience in the U.S., Taiwan, Russia and Pakistan, Sophia considers her interpersonal communication skills and emphasis on understanding customer’s needs as key success factors in her career.
Morayma McKinney is CEO of Total Solutions, Inc. Total Solutions, based in Madison, AL, is a federal contractor specializing in program management, professional services, training, and technical and administrative services for clients such as the Centers for Disease Control, US Department of Agriculture, Missile Defense Agency, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, US Army and US Air Force. Ms. McKinney spent much of her early career as project manager on NASA programs before leaving the federal sector to start her own business in 2001. She merged her enterprise with Total Solutions shortly thereafter and in 2005 became majority owner and CEO. In 2009, Ms. McKinney, was named the Small Business Administration’s “Alabama Minority Small Business Person of the Year”. Over the past four years, Ms. McKinney has grown the company’s employment base by 700 percent (from 35 employees to more than 250).
